Developing the code

The third stage in the lifecycle is the bit most of us are especially familiar with - actually writing the PHP code to make the magic happen. Suffice to say that the program code should follow the design you should have produced in the following two steps!

As the process of writing code is so dear to us all, it is covered in its own chapter. Note, however, that you should avoid all attempt to diverge from the application design - hacking your code in such a way that obliterates the design spec might seem like a smart move when you are facing deadlines, but you will often find that even the coolest hack will come back to haunt you in the future.
